Day 3. Subject: What should I call you, [firstname]? Hi [firstname], What should I call you? The reason I ask is if you're known by one name (or nickname) on one social media site and a different on on another site, how are people supposed to know you're you? That's why it's important to be consistent across all your social media platforms. Choose a user name that reflects who you are, or what your business is (or does). Check out all the social media sites you intend to sign-up for and make sure that user name is still available on every site. Then, design your cover image. Most social media sites give you the option on having a cover image. It should reflect your business and what that business stands for. It could be a photo of one of your products or your company headquarters. Maybe a group photo of all the people who work in your business, or just an eye-catching design in your corporate colours. If you're stuck for ideas, check out what other, successful businesses or entrepreneurs are doing, and design something similar. Finally, take your profile picture. Exactly what that picture should look like is going to be dependent on what type of audience you're going after. If you intend to get a business to business following (and it's a fairly serious business like banking or law), you should have a photo taken of you wearing business clothes. If you're in a more laid-back profession (internet marketing, for example) then a photo in more casual clothing is fine. Whatever type of picture you decide on, get a professional photographer to take it. I know this can be expensive, but it's a worthwhile investment. The same goes for your cover image and logo (you can substitute a logo for a picture if the media account is for a brand or business). A professional image can ensure you're taken seriously.
